ESPN released a news article today reporting that the American Sports Council has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Education over the enforcement of Title IX. The lawsuit states that fulfilling the requisites of Title IX will eventually lead to a reduction of men’s sports offered at public institutions, which would be inconsistent with the true aim of Title IX – to empower women’s sports and raise the number of female athletes towards that of men.
